PrivaTran staff have developed:

LIDAR receiver Navy SBIR - a single chip, integrated LIDAR receiver with a 1024 channel linear array allows current push broom style streak tube LIDAR’s to be retrofitted with a solid state receiver to eliminate the high cost tubes and high voltage power supplies.

High speed readout focal plane array Air Force SBIR - an advanced hybridized detector Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) single chip solution that supports traditional sensor array and ROIC configurations of different detector wavelengths, but also an integrated detector and ROIC configuration enabling a single chip LADAR receiver solution.

Miniature ground mapping LADAR NASA SBIR - to perform terrain hazard detection by providing real-time 3D mapping, including sub-pixel bolder and crater sensing. The miniature solid state flash LADAR utilizing a phase receiver allows range accuracies of 3mm.

Terrain mapping LADAR Army SBIR - a compact 3D imaging Terrain Mapping LADAR sensor and image processor including an integrated detector ROIC and an integrated real time image processing with the image processing and compression needed for a wireless data interface from the LADAR sensor to the display.


PrivaTran staff have conducted system level trade studies and performance simulations and well as managed overall sensor system integration of custom Read Out IC (ROIC) design, development, prototyping, and transferred into production.

PrivaTran staff have designed, developed, and fabricated custom ROICs for detectors and detector arrays requiring analog and digital signal conditioning and processing.

Advanced multi-waveband sensors using three-dimensional photonic crystals is another focus for PrivaTran's research and development team. The key for this technology is the interface, where conventional super-lattice photo-detectors are interfaced directly with the light stream through the photonic crystal.

PrivaTran staff have designed and developed the following custom integrated sensor devices:

  • Room Temperature Spatially Registered Multispectral Polarization Selective Sensor
  • Hybridized terahertz detector and ROIC single chip sensor array
  • Visible and Near Infra-Red (VNIR) - Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Hyperspectral Sensors
  • Multispectral room temperature passive discrimination sensors
  • Self sustainable field deployable smart imaging sensor
  • Advanced, single-chip, hybridized detector ROIC and an integrated detector enabling a single-chip large array ROIC receiver solution
  • An advanced, single-chip, hybridized detector ROIC and an integrated detector enabling a single-chip large array LADAR receiver
